I Just Returned From A Trade Show
July 31, 2007 on 12:10 pm | In Products By Scott | No CommentsWell, I just returned from a week of searching for new products. I met with nearly 70 vendors over a four day period at the Household Products and General Merchandise show in Florida. I met with vendor after vendor who wanted to show me their new items. It seems that this year, everybody is going green. I think every single company I met with that makes any kind of cleaning chemical has launched a line of Eco-friendly cleaners. It seems to be the big push this year, but do the consumers trust all natural cleaners? In the past, All natural cleaners were quite a bit more expensive than your normal cleaning chemicals and they never seemed to work as well. According to the factories, all that has changed. The prices have come down considerably and they claim that they work as well as the national brand equivalent. What do you think? Would you buy a glass cleaner, a floor cleaner or an all purpose degreaser that was all natural? Or better yet, have you used any in the past? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts and comments.
Thanks,
Scott
My husband- and sumptuous salmon
July 31, 2007 on 8:05 am | In In the Kitchen, Products By Jane | No CommentsFor years my husband could not figure out how long to cook foods on the grill. Just for fun, I loaned him my Yellow Timer on a Rope from Always-Free-Shipping. (Item # 037035) I said, “5 minutes per side”, that’s all you need to know. To my surprise, he was so delighted when the salmon came out absolutely perfect, that he now includes the timer with his other grilling utensils and proudly serves steak, fish, and chicken that our guests raves about. He is not the least bit embarrassed when the guys ask what he is wearing around his neck. It’s a conversation stopper and allows him to mingle with the guests without worrying about the grill. Best of all, the food is cooked correctly!

Bountiful Baking
July 25, 2007 on 9:00 am | In Products By Ann | No CommentsI’m not much of a cook, but I sure like to bake. I think that’s because I have quite the sweet tooth. Some of my creations come out great, others – not so good. One time I tried to make low fat cupcakes with diet soda and added too much water and created a soggy mess. My specialty is baking cupcakes, but I want to venture into pie making. I see quite a few products that look like they will help me out – the Apple Corer and Peeler for instance and the Non Stick Oven Liner (this will save me oven cleaning time when fruit juices bubble over). If anyone has easy pie recipes to share, let me know. I can use all the assistance I can get!

Rainy Day Organizing
July 24, 2007 on 3:02 pm | In Products By Jeanne | No CommentsYesterday was one of those lazy rainy summer days. I could have just curled up with a good book, but I decided to be productive instead, and organize my kitchen with the new white wire organziers that I had purchased online. It gave me a chance to throw out those cracked plastic dishes I’d been saving since my son was little (he’s 15 now), and wipe down all the cabinets and line them with new shelf paper. The best one by far, was the vertical lid holder. It really made of the most of my limited space. I may not have gotten to that book, but when I finally did sit down, the sense of satisfaction was as good as any surprise ending!
shipping to po box
July 24, 2007 on 8:15 am | In Did You Know... By Jane | No CommentsAs President of Home Trends Catalogs I felt compelled to explain our shipping methods to a PO Box address. Seems we get comments and complaints on a regular basis about how unfair it is that we discourage our PO Box customers from ordering. The truth is, we value all our customers, including the ones who have all their packages and mail delivered to a PO Box. The problem is that we have no way of tracking that package and that means we cannot provide the customer service you, our customer, have grown to respect and expect. As a compromise, we can send these packages as Priority Mail and can track them right to the customer’s door. Hope this helps clarify a frustrating situation.

Getting the Smoke Out
July 20, 2007 on 7:59 am | In Products By Janet | No Comments
Oh my, it’s chilly this morning. I reached for my cotton sweater to wear to work, and the last time I wore it, I went to a party…. where some folks were actually smoking. Well, my sweater smelled of smoke!
I reached for a product someone had given me to test, called Dry Cleaners Secret, and tried it. All I had to do was put one of the Dry Cleaner sheets into the dryer, along with my smoky sweater, and let the dryer run for several minutes. Worked like a charm – and I’m wearing it now – smoke-free. I’ll be adding this product to our site in a few minutes – I highly recommend it!
