Keeping the Lid On
August 31, 2007 on 9:38 am | In In the Kitchen By Janet | 1 Comment
I just returned from visiting friends on Sebago Lake in Maine. Perfect weather, great food…. who could ask for more? While vacationing, I always jump back & forth from the lake to the kitchen… cooking breaks are my favorite way of keeping out of the sun & water. We tend to cook large feasts to enjoy in the evening, after spending the day outside.
Cottage kitchens are where old favorites end up – odd dishes, 1 of a kind glasses, pots & pans with missing lids, you know how it is. My friend used an old tin pot lid with the knob missing, on her 2 favorite pans… one night, she practically burned herself! After witnessing this, I had the perfect idea for my thank you gift! Universal Pot & Pan Lids.
Next problem – how is it possible to gain 3 lbs. in 1 week, and spend the next month trying to loose them? What I need are “Universal “Don’t Eat Anymore Food” Lids!
The Safest Way To Wash Delicate Glassware With Narrow Necks
August 30, 2007 on 11:57 am | In Products, Uncategorized By Scott | 1 CommentHow many times have you tried to wash a glass bottle or vase only to discover you couldn’t get your hand or sponge down into the narrow opening? Well, I have found the solution to your problem! It is called the Decanter & Bottle Washing Kit. This kit uses little stainless steel balls to clean the inside of the bottle. The kit comes with about 350 small stainless steel balls, a funnel w/lid and a brush filter. All you have to do is add some water to the vessel, insert the funnel and release the balls. Swish the balls around for a few minutes to dislodge any dirt or residue and pour the balls back into the funnel. Now you just have to rinse out the vessel and your done. It’s that simple. It is reusable and stores easily for continual use. Say goodbye to trying to contort your hand into a bottle like you are a genie. Your wish of an easy way to clean narrow neck bottles will be granted by these magic balls! Look for it soon!

Crazy For Closeouts
August 29, 2007 on 6:38 am | In Products By Ann | 1 CommentHere’s the deal (yes, pun intended!). I LOVE sales. I mean, who doesn’t? I search out bargains, sales, specials, clearance you name it. There is just such satisfaction in getting something for a great price. I think that is why I am such a fan of always-free-shipping.com. I do not like paying for shipping costs. I also love that there are “special buys” on the site. Have you seen this section? The prices are good to begin with, and these closeouts are a steal. I bought the Ziploc Bags and I couldn’t be more pleased. Sure, I work here, but I’m also a customer (and a very pleased one at that!)

Blueberry Pancakes
August 28, 2007 on 1:29 pm | In In the Kitchen, Products By Jeanne | 1 CommentFall is blueberry pancake time! We just picked some blueberries at the local farm, and I can’t wait to use my new Pancake dispenser to ensure equal sized circles. It saves me from cleaning up all the drippy mess from the counter and bowl. Always-free-shipping.com has it at a great price, and no shipping charges.
The Rotato Express
August 28, 2007 on 8:47 am | In Uncategorized By Jane | 2 CommentsIt’s getting to be that time of year again- apple pie season. In my younger years- you know, the time of life when you are home all the time with little toddlers scampering about, it seemed logical to make a trip to the apple farm. I would get my three plus about 5 other neighborhood kids piled into the station wagon (no car seats back then)and off we would go. Goodness, no GPS system to find the farm, no cell phone to tell anyone where we were. Sounds really dangerous now!
Once back home, and once the little ones were tucked into bed, my baking frenzy would begin. I had a Rotato Express, # 510020, which goes to show you how many years that invention has been around. That invention peels apples in record time. The goal was to see how many pies I could make before I ran out of apples. I think my record was 15.
My freezer is empty now, but this blog is tempting me to fill it once again. With my handy dandy Potato Express, it should be a cinch!
The Shoe Fetish
August 23, 2007 on 3:10 pm | In Uncategorized By Jane | 1 CommentOkay, I admit it, I can never have too many shoes. As much as I promise myself that I will throw a pair out for every new pair I bring home, somehow they keep multiplying. Worst of all, my daughter-in-law has discovered this truth about me. She noticed how I have already trained my 13 month old granddaughter to not only put on her own shoes, but change them with a great deal of frequency and when absolutely running out, wear anyone else’s that she can find around. So I found a great underbed shoe storage bin that hides under the bed. It holds 12 pair of shoes and frees me to put 12 more pairs of shoes on the floor of my closet. It retails for $29.95 on Always-Free-Shipping.com, which means no shipping costs added on.
Please Don’t Feed The Dust Bunnies
August 22, 2007 on 6:50 am | In Products By Ann | 1 CommentEver get in one of those moods when you just don’t feel like cleaning? I must admit I feel that way more often than not. Fortunately for me, my job forces me to get into a cleaning state of mind. I’m finding that it’s the little things that make a big difference in my cleaning motivation level. I used to dread washing dishes (I don’t use my dishwasher that often) until I tried the Anti Fatigue Mat. I can now stand for long periods without fatigued feet. Brilliant! I bet this mat would also be great in the basement or workshop. The bottom line is – cleaning tasks will always be there, but we might as well be comfortable, right?!

White Wizard…truly magic
August 21, 2007 on 2:12 pm | In Products, Uncategorized By Jeanne | No CommentsWhite Wizard is truly a remarkable stain remover. On my wedding day, I had my hair and makeup done, and was all ready to step into my gown. As I was getting zippered up…oh no…! The zipper came off of the track. No one, including my aunt who is a seamstress, could get it back together. The only answer, since I was supposed to be on my way to the church, was to be sewn into the dress. As my aunt started to sew up from the bottom, and my girlfriend sewed from the top down, disaster struck! Someone had pricked their finger, and I had blood stains down the back of the dress – on the lace and silk! Mom came to the rescue with White Wizard. She wet a washcloth, and dabbed it on, and like magic, the stain came right out. It dried by the time I got to the church, and didn’t leave any residue behind. White Wizard saved my wedding day..and I’m still married, 14 years later!

Under the Bed Stash
August 17, 2007 on 8:35 am | In Organizing By Janet | 1 Comment
No one has any idea how many shoes are stashed away under my bed. Believe it or not, I have 4 cases of underbed shoe organizers that each hold 12 pair of shoes…. you can do the math.
I have other stashed items as well…. like art work & memorabilia (shhhhh……)! Best part is, it’s all hidden away behind my Wrap Around Bed Skirt.
Who ever figured out the simple logic of putting elastic around the top of a bed ruffle was a genius, if you ask me. Because of everything that’s stashed under my bed, I need to keep it as clean as possible, so I wash the “dust ruffle” regularly.
It’s amazing what just one item can do for a room. Not only does my bed look”finished”, Wrap Around Bed Skirt creates the perfect hiding spot for precious goodies (like way too many shoes).
