Cooking Up A Storm
February 29, 2008 on 8:03 am | In In the Kitchen, Products By Ann | No CommentsWe hit our lowest temperature of the year yesterday – 4 degrees…brrrr, I’m shivering just thinking about it. There is something about cold weather that just makes me want to stay inside and bake brownies, cakes, cookies and eat comfort food (mac n’ cheese, meatloaf, etc.) Of course, it could also be that I am dieting and just craving those things.
Either way, there is one handy helper that I could not do without in the kitchen. And that handy helper is (drum roll please….)
They are just wonderful for taking food out of the oven and toaster oven. 2 other uses for these gloves that you may not have thought of:
1) Removing hot light bulbs
2) Wearing while using a curling iron to avoid getting burned (don’t laugh, it works!)

True Customer Appreciation
February 25, 2008 on 2:21 pm | In About Us By Arthur | 2 CommentsThere’s a blog post that I often times turn to for inspirational stories about customer service. Sometimes in business it gets easy to forget about your individual customers. When you are getting many orders it can be difficult to look at each one as an individual. As Becky Carroll put it, “Companies that aren’t focused on their customers as a growth strategy view every interaction as money.” This is the worst way to do business. This is how some companies end up going out of business; they forget that the customer is the most important part of the business process. We can attribute some of our success to our general willingness to go the extra step to help out our customers in any way we possibly can. That comes from an organized and motivated staff that is truly ready help.
The blog post I often turn to is Customersrock.wordpress.com. It’s written by Becky Carroll. In her latest post, she talked about the benefits of great customer service in the form of customer feedback. You can read that post by clicking here. It really made me think that with an online only store, it’s difficult to get reactions from our customers about products. It’s difficult to converse with them about general topics, too. I would like to use this blog as a forum for general discussion with our customers, with our guests, and even with folks just passing by. Leave a comment about a previous product you have purchased here, or elsewhere, or send us a link to your own blog spot. We want to make your online shopping experience as great as it can possibly be. What do you think? What would you like to see on this site? What types of customer service stories do you have?
We are here to listen, and we are here to help.
Visit always-free-shipping.com for free shipping, always.

Hefty Bags Attend A Party Last Christmas
February 18, 2008 on 11:20 am | In In the Kitchen, Products By Arthur | 1 CommentYes, that’s right. The Hefty Bags were there. I know, it sounds very funny at first. But once I actually tell the story it may make more sense.
Last Christmas I went to an extended family party. There were about 75 people there, 3 generations of a large Italian family. And as Italian family parties go, there was enough food there to feed everyone in New York City. As the party was winding down, my cousin wanted to pack up some food for everyone to bring home with them; mostly for the kids to eat because it was their break from high school. Luckily, my cousin was prepared. She had a some heavy duty paper plates in which she lined up and put the food on. She then grabbed some Hefty 1 Gallon Bags and just slipped the plates right in the bags. She then twist tied all the tops and had leftovers for about 15 kids in about 20 minutes. That was the easiest and probably the most cost effective way to wrap up all that food and hand it out. I commented on her efficiency. She laughed and said that after raising 5 kids of her own and being from a large family herself that every cent counts. Indeed, it does.
At always-free-shipping.com you can buy Hefty Bags and much more. Use Hefty Bags for leftovers, use always-free-shipping.com to save some money.

Apartments and Roomates; Saving Space
February 12, 2008 on 8:18 am | In Organizing, Products By Arthur | 2 CommentsI have lived in the same 2 bedroom apartment for 2 years. It’s not a bad spot and there is quite a bit of room. My girlfriend and I have always used the second bedroom as more of a storage area and an extra closet. If there isn’t enough room in the main closet for something, we always put it in the other. Recently I took a look in that closet, not just to toss something in and shut the door quickly, but I actually looked through it. There is stuff in there that I hadn’t seen since we moved into the place.
Usually we wait till spring to do the “spring cleaning”, hence the name. But I don’t think this can wait. In another few months the closet could become so full that the poor doors will no longer be able to handle the weight, and we could have a more serious mess on our hands. It’s time for a little closet organization.
This is not a new problem for home owners, renters, vacationers, leasers, or even squatters. Home organization is tiring and can be a little expensive. You first have to see the problem for what it is and then find the remedy, which at some mega stores and shopping super-centers finding the remedy may be difficult. Surprisingly, these stores do not necessarily offer the greatest deals either. Plus, if you buy a large item, such as a portable closet, you have to carry it to your car, load it, unload it, and then get it in the house before you even set it up. Seems like a lot of work, just to do some more work.
I know closet organization isn’t necessarily the most fun job in the world, but neither is taking out the trash. They both have to get done sooner or later. If you are in a similar canoe, you may want to click here to check out a few closet organizers. I’m already on the road to organization, unless I hit a detour, because it’s definitely a path under construction. Wish me luck.

Hot Cocoa Help
February 11, 2008 on 7:36 am | In Products By Ann | No CommentsI don’t think I would have been able to make it through this winter without my 25 calorie hot cocoa. It really warms me up for a minimal amount of calories. I make it mid morning at work using water boiled in this Electric Tea Kettle. I have mentioned using this kettle before for my oatmeal.
I have never had any mishaps with hot cocoa until today. I ended up spilling cocoa on my pink mittens. However, the cocoa was not the one I make at work but cocoa I bought for a coworker from Starbucks. When it happened, I started to panic that my mittens were ruined. Chocolate based stains can be very stubborn. Fortunately, we had a sample of Mary Ellen’s Stain Remover. It got rid of the stain! Everyone needs to have this product on hand for unexpected mishaps like this one.
Until next time… Ann

Safe, Secure Ordering, and FREE SHIPPING
February 5, 2008 on 11:57 am | In About Us, Did You Know... By Arthur | 2 CommentsI think the title of this blog tells it all. I really would like to take a minute to discuss ordering over the internet. I know many skeptical people who do not like to order over the internet. They are usually scared of someone hacking into their account, stealing their bank information, and losing all their money. Many people shop online, but insist on calling their order in to avoid something happening, such as, the previously mentioned. Our customers are considered the number one priority here, as every good business practice should be, and our staff of operators and web managers would be more than happy to assist.
We have a super secure website that uses yahoo security, plus our own. The buyer, or any internet shopper or surfer, should also make sure they are not using an unsafe wireless connection while ordering and have proper security software (anti-spyware and anti-virus) installed in their computers, too. If you are not sure what you have installed on your computer, you could call your manufacturer and they should be able to tell you.
Honestly, ordering online is no different than calling or sending a check. Phone lines can cross and information can be shared, and there is no security or alerts against that. Also, a check has personal bank account information, name, and address, which if it is lost, could be equally dangerous. Ordering online is safe as long as the website you are ordering from is safe. If you would like to review our security policy as well as Yahoo’s, click here.
Always-free-shipping.com prides itself on being there for the customer when they need it, if they need it. We also will always offer you free shipping on our entire stock! If you have questions or concerns, you can contact us at customercare@always-free-shipping.com
